Embracing Traditions Engaging New Ideas

The Only University-Based Master of Divinity Program Serving South Florida's Diverse Theological Community

Lift Every Voice

Expanding Theological Education in South Florida's M. Div Desert

The challenge in South Florida is not that congregations lack vitality. Theologians in the academy are recognizing that our community has been underserved when it comes to accessible and quality theology programs for pastors, ministers, and leaders.

As a result, patterns of congregational isolation set in, accountability declines, and, perhaps most challenging, imagination shrinks.

Our vision for our partnership is to resource Christian congregations through sustained intercultural, interconfessional, and intergenerational engagement.

We look forward to building on our relationship with Florida Memorial University to expand the accessibility of high-quality ministry education to unique populations in South Florida."

An Innovative Master of Divinity Degree

A cohort model with classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays because we learn best in a thriving community.

Because master-level education should build upon a solid foundation, the curriculum features advanced courses while avoiding the repetition of undergraduate introductory courses.

Students study the Bible, Theology, and Practical Theology in paired courses across disciplines because real-life ministry requires integrated thinking.

We have an engaging flipped classroom approach for biblical languages because we learn best in safe spaces of trial and error.

Students develop their leadership skills in three apprenticeships, serving under a ministry leader and gaining over 450 hours of hands-on experience because practitioners need intentional practice.

Our evening classes allow for a work and study balance. Students are able to attend online anywhere in the state of Florida.

Our Student's Excitement for This Partnership

Two Unique Universities Creating Theological Leaders of the Future

Florida Memorial is the only HBCU College in south florida

Our long-term goal is to build up a single local community of theological formation by developing particular communities and focusing on those with the most unmet needs for theological education. The challenge is to make theological education contextually engaged, accessible, and affordable.

Palm Beach Atlantic University offers the only university-based, ATS-accredited M.Div in the region.

We see opportunities and possibilities for collaboration within our regional religious ecosystem. We know that needs vary by tradition, size, context, and capacity. We also know that collaboration can lead to greater economies of scale, increasing the sustainability of ministerial formation and theological education for our institution as well as our collaborators. We see possibilities to integrate our programs, faculty, and ministry and doctoral level students in ways that produce feedback loops that in turn lead to greater mutual flourishing.
